Okay so I knew about it, but I didn't know how he was asking. This is so romantic... I'm so happy for you two! (even though I'm commenting on this extremely late)

woah. you're doing a beautiful deed by volunteering. it's my dream to volunteer to; except that i have to start out on a small-scale by helping out in refugee camps in asia first.

it's looking at the opposite spectrum of life that makes us thankful of all that we have. do continue to share your stories! :)

That is so true. i was just telling a man i met on the bus how much america is idolized in other countries. While I was in panama, i was shocked to see America stores and stores selling t shirts and things with the american flag printed on them. Our country reaches farther than we think.

Miss ya. Sounds like you are having an AMAZING time :))
Hope your birthday was absolutely wonderful!

Yeah! I don't know much yet but I was just reading something interesting. In Jason Carter's book Power Lines, he was saying he spoke to some rural teacher who had made a plea with the government during the TRC to find her missing brother. Because there was not enough evidence of political affiliation to the disappearance the TRC could not help. The teacher expressed that the TRC made many people remember again the losses they had suffered under Apartheid. So even now there are mixed feelings towards the actions taken by the Transitional Government.

This information is something I had not read. It explains quite a bit. Thanks for the clarification. They do have a long way to go, but at least they are "going".
